Tesco, a UK first

Case Studies

Tesco wished to change their "Finest Fudge" from a carton to a VFFS pack. This would allow it to be positioned differently in store and reduce packaging costs without reducing the quality aesthetics of the pack.

“Flexible packaging in reel format with a registered shaped window had not been done before. National Flexible managed to achieve this and has produced an excellent pack which both us and Tesco are delighted with”

Jane Holmes, Product Manager

Brief Summary

Not only did Tesco require a VFFS "stabilo" pack but retaining the ‘artisan’ look and feel was a very strong motivator. In addition the hot foil silver "finest" logo had to be present.

The incumbent carton displayed the top quality fudge through a window, this was another pre-requisite. In other words a clear, registered window was also required on the pack!

A challenging NPD product and one that had never been achieved in the UK before.

National Flexible, in conjunction with Tesco’s Packaging Manager Mark Caul, worked with a specialist producer of paper laminates to create the perfect pack to meet the extremely challenging brief.

The hot-foil finish on the paper outer is a stunning UK first, the registered shaped window and ribbed kraft paper offered the perfect finish. The end result was simply spectacular.
